Construction has been completed at the new Que Throm and Cicero Greathouse Education Studios at the Maitland Art Center, marking one of the most significant transformations of the historic campus in more than 65 years. The two new facilities expand the Art & History Museums of Maitland’s capacity to provide arts education while allowing spaces within the historic Studio Court to return to their original purpose as working studios for artists. The new studios will support ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking and flexible instruction, along with gallery space where students, instructors and
artists can share their work. The expansion will allow the museum to serve more students, broaden its educational programming and strengthen the campus as a destination for creativity, cultural tourism and community connection.

“This expansion brings André Smith’s vision of a living, evolving artist retreat into the twenty-first century,” said Executive Director Danielle Thomas. “It allows us to modernize and grow our Art School, while also restoring the historic Studio Court to its original purpose as working artist studios.”
